From Homelessness to Homeownership
Investing in & Revitalizing Detroit for a Better Future
We are a grassroots nonprofit committed to the welfare, mental health, economic empowerment, and revitalization of veteran populations in the Detroit Metro area. Like the phoenix we rise from the ashes.
What is the Detroit Phoenix Group Inc. (DPG)?
Our board members are comprised of real estate professionals and community leaders dedicated to helping service members, veterans, and surviving spouses find sustainable living, including buying, refinancing, or modifying their homes. We also offer wraparound support services to boost mental health, wellbeing, professional development, and more.
Our Support Services
Residental Housing & Homeownership
With the support of our community partners, such as: SER Metro Detroit and Brilliant Detroit, DPG plans to open The Jada House, a residential housing development in a safe and stabilized neighborhood for participants to grow and thrive. We also offer comprehensive training on the path to homeownership.
Skills Development & Financial Literacy
At part of our mission to help rebuild the lives of our veterans and their families, we provide skills development, career planning, financial literacy, and credit repair education for participants. We believe in building from the inside out to ensure veterans are marketable as they transition to life outside the military.
Mental Health Support & Victims Services
Another key component of our support programs is our mental health support, victims services, and the attention we give to improving the overall wellbeing of participants. We focus on self care, providing a strong support system to build community, and tools to manage stress, anxiety, and more.
Roger Jones, Founder & President
“My passion for equity in homeownership runs deep. As a realtor, I see first-hand the challenges our veterans face with homelessness and the lack of access to resources. DPG invests in the wellbeing of others. We turn forgotten soldiers into functioning homeowners.”
DPG Programming
Our goal is to deliver the resources needed to combat homelessness and to promote economic empowerment throughout Detroit. Through our “DPG Path to Homeownership Program”, over the course of 14 weeks, we educate service members, veterans, and surviving spouses on the path to ownership, credit repair, and debt counseling.
For those in need of residential housing, we are working to build The Jada House - a community by and for veterans. We even deliver placement assistance and ongoing case management. Our organization is seeking funding to assist with down payment assistance and stipends for program graduates as they transition.
